Adoption Process Overview
Our adoption process starts with a telephone screening and potential home visit / referral, where we assess your suitability with the animal you are interested in. Upon approval you will be required to sign an adoption contract and pay a nominal adoption fee. During this time there would also be the opportunity for a meet and greet between yourself and the animal. This process is implemented for the best interest of the animal, and Want A Pet? reserves the right to refuse unsuitable candidates.
One must realize that there will be an adjustment and settling in period which will vary with each animal; allowing them time to get used to their new surroundings and likewise for the adopters getting to know their new family member.
Following adoption we will ask for periodic updates to check on the status of the animal and how things are going, to ensure that the animal is settling in its new home. This can be done simply via email wantapet@gmail.com, message through our Face book page or in person.
Some animals have littermates that have been adopted, these can viewed on our Success Story page.
Thank You for your interest - now lets meet the animals looking for homes!
Updated May 2026
River Cats - Tigris and Amazon
November 27 update - all health checked and vaccinated.
October 20, 2025 about 4-5 months old, May 2026 now almost a year old.
Tigris is a male white-brown-grey tabby cat, about 4-5 months old. He’s a little on the shyer side, but he’s been slowly coming around to being pet and loved. He is very curious, and despite being shy, he has started to come and investigate the human during playtime, even stepping onto their legs. Tigris is very food motivated, easily being lured out with licky-treats and dinner. Tigris is hoping for a furever home that will be packed with different kinds of treats and food experiences.
Amazon is a male white-brown-grey tabby cat, about 4-5 months old. Despite being the largest of his litter mates, he is currently the biggest chicken. Amazon loves to come out and play with various toys with his sister Congo and the human, but he is still sensitive to being touched. Even with a licky-treat, he gives the best stink-eye to light touches. He likes to explore new spaces and investigate new toys. He is a work in a progress who is looking for a furever home that will keep him busy and moving.
Siblings to Congo - Adopted.
Mama Nile (mother to the River Cats (above) Streams (adopted)
October 2025 - Nile is a female white-brown-grey tabby cat under one year old. While she is still very wary of humans, she will accept licky-treats from a human hand without too much fear. Recently, she has allowed the human to sit beside her while she eats away from her babies. Nile is a work in progress who will eventually want a home of her own to luxuriate in.
