Fundraising

Want A Pet?  survives solely on fundraising efforts and donations - these funds are used to assist the animals in need, without we could not do what we do.  Visit our Facebook page see more information on various fundraising activities:  Want A Pet? 

Donations

Donations whether Monetary or Pet Supplies are always welcome and appreciated: monetary donations can be made email transfer to wantapet@gmail.com, by mail or in person with an Executive Board Member.  Please make Cheques payable to: Want A Pet

Did you buy food that your dog or cat just will not eat, have an abundance of toys that your dog does not play with or collars that they have grown out of? Have old blankets and sheets?  Please contact us as we can put them to use. Even newspapers!!! Everything helps, no donation too small.

From time to time an emergency or out of ordinary case occurs where donations are being made for that animals veterinary care or emergency situation.  Please make sure to reference the animal or cause  in the description box that appears.

We appreciate the support which allows us to assist animals in need and provide for those in our care. Thank you!

Want A Pet? during their operation years hosted and participated in fundraising events and activities throughout the year to help raise funds to assist animals in need.  These activities are advertised using local media and our facebook page. Some examples can be viewed below on this page.

Without the support of our sponsors, members, volunteers and the community members we would not be able to do what we do. Thank you!

September 9 & 10, 16 - Longlac Trade Show

Congratulations to our winners....Kim Abernot was the winner of the Concrete Stepping Stone and Jen Jacobs was the winner of our door prize of the PartyLite 8 piece Candle Set. Thank you to everyone that stopped by the Canteen to support us and also to everyone that stopped by the booth and inquired about some of the animals that we have in care.  We would also like to thank the Longlac Chamber of Commerce for allowing us to run the Canteen and donating our booth to us.

July 16 & 17, 2016 - Longlac Summerfest

President's Report: "WOW.....What a weekend at Summerfest....where to start....I guess the first place to start would be with our donaters....our BIG THANK YOUS go to the following....Linda and Rene Blouin of the Four Winds Hotel for donating all the Hamburgers, Smokies, Hot Dogs, Cheese and Pop, next would be Nicole Gross our Vice-President for her donations of Buns, Condiments, Water and Gatoraide, next would be Melanie Lankin our Treasurer for all the Candies that we used during the Parade and the Suckers that all the children enjoyed and finally Danny Pineault for the use of his Trailer again this year for our Parade Float.....my next round of THANK YOUS go out to The Summerfest Committee for allowing us to do our BBQ Fundraising Event, next to our Volunteers that spent their entire weekend through the heat which would be Nicole Gross, Lucie Gerrard, Ryan Derry, and Terry Gerrard when he could....and Last but not Least a huge THANK YOU to ALL of the prople that supported us this weekend, we raised enough to get our remaining animals in care neutered...."

"I personally would also like to THANK The Summerfest Committee for the Honour of becoming Volunteer of the Year for 2016....I was not only humbled and honoured, but also lost for words when I was asked to give a speech, I was trying to work through tears to do it.....our supporters and my love for animals is why I do this....and I never look for recognition for anything that I do for them, but I am so honoured and blessed to have been chosen this year....I will treasure this forever.....Thank you will never be enough to express how I feel right now.....God Bless you all and Thank you for all the support you give us to help them ~~Luisa"

April 15 & 16, 2016 - Geraldton Chamber of Commerce Trade Show

Want A Pet had a booth at the Geraldton Trade Show made possible by booth sponsor - Times Star / Piestch Group. 

Furrbabies Noel and Kristmas were onsite to share their stories with special visit from form WAP's former furrbaby Kia.

November 21, 2015 - Longlac Craft Fair

This year Want A pet? was present at the Longlac craft fair held by the Longlac Horticultural Society and Our Lady Fatima Parent Council.

Kreations by Karen - Booth Sponsor making it possible for us to be on the busier arena side  and what a busy weekend!  Lots of people stopped by to say hello, drop off donation, check our new snack items from The Bean Ladies, and purchase a book written by our local author Edgar Lavoie with partial proceeds going to WAP. 

Doreen Lemieux, Manager – LCBO, Geraldton stopped by our booth; following  discussions during a Manager Meeting decided that as part of their “giving back to the community” she would donate their fundraising proceeds to local organization; Want A Pet? “ Greenstone Helping Paws”

The 50/50 draw was done at Trade Show and the winner was Paulette Abraham; who has donated the winnings back to Want A Pet?

April 19, 2014 - Stuff a Suburban with Pet Supplies

Hosted by Extra Foods of Geraldton; the WAP crew were onsite with puppies Kia and Ford collecting supplies for our animals in care.

 December 7, 2013 - Thunder Pet, Pet Store

Thunder Pet, pet store on the corner of Gore St. and Mountdale Ave, in Thunder Bay hosted Want A Pet ? for a day.  We had a bake sale table with some Christmas crafts, various draws and some furrbabies onsite. Huge Thank you goes to  Thunder Pet for hosting us and our foster home Sharon who made all the arrangements, preparation and crafts including the very popular fleece blankets.

 November 17, 2013 GERALDTON CRAFT FAIR

Luisa, Mel and Shelly present manning the table  and selling tickets for the various draws.  The table was full of goodies for people and pets!  Plus handmade fleece blankets by our foster home Sharon and silent auction crochet blanket by Luisa.
