Memorial

From time to time, regardless of our efforts and round the clock care, some animals leave us for rainbow bridge.  With their short time in our care they have left a lasting expression in our hearts.  These are sad times for us, but we console ourselves with knowing we did everything we could for them and loved them as our own.

We are sharing our stories as educational pieces and create awareness about the importance of proper animal care; its not just a dog or just a cat.  Animals have feelings,  feel pain, get cold, get hot and how you treat them has a lasting impression on them.

Pudge aka Honey

Permanent foster cats due to Mycoplasma Virus in 2013, due to this and not knowing life expectancy she remained in foster care with 12 others.  She gained her wings January 2023.

Apollo

Was a 3-4 year Mastiff mixed found abandoned and in emaciated condition. Despite recovery efforts and training to help him, we were unsuccessful in stabilizing his underlying aggression to people and other dogs that got worse as he regained health, even with medication.   Something that he endured prior to rescue stayed with him and therefore he gained his wings January 2, 2023.

Daisy

Sept. 2022 - Hit by car and surrendered to WAP.   Needed to undergo surgery on both back legs which was estimated to be over $4,200.  Initially for an amputation in one, but due condition of both legs and other fractures, they opted to do pins and plates in her right hind leg and a splint on her left hind leg.  During surgery she went into arrest, due to suspected blood clot, despite best efforts of trying to resuscitate her she did not make it.

Blossom

Oct 2021 - Sweet girl rushed to the vet but did not make it.

Rufus

July 8, 2021 - Today we had been given the news that our sweet boy Rufus had prolapsed again. He has already undergone 3 surgeries for this where as 2 of the surgeries had removed 4 to 6 inches of his rectum. We were so hopeful after his 3rd surgery that all would be okay as he was starting to put weight back on.  Brittanya has gone through so much with him and did everything right. She loved this boy like he was one of her own. We all understood that if it happened again there would be nothing left to remove, so we made the heartbreaking decision to let him go. Brittanya was by his side the entire time and when he is ready to go back home he will be at his forever home with her.

I will never be able to thank everyone that has helped us through our journey with Rufus. We tried so hard to make you whole again, I'm just so sorry that we couldn't do it for you. RIP sweet Rufus. You are now free to chase those butterflies and jump through the tall grass. Until we meet again....fly free, fly high and be the best you can be 💔🐾🐕‍🦺🐾💔 You will never be forgotten"

Smokey and Bandit

2 weeks old and without mother cat
Despite efforts and around the clock care by her foster mum Shelly, we were not able to save them.
Smokey passed away due to effects of malnutrition complications;  vet prognosis was not good for Bandit as she was also suffering malnutrition complications and neurological disorders, therefore recommended she be put to sleep.

Patches

Recovered from the mycoplasma disease at a younger age but suffered complications due to the disease a couple years later
and left us for rainbow bridge.
Patches was among 20 plus animals that were abandoned and left in a home in deplorable conditions...

advanced with other health issues in progress.  We were not able to save him.

Star

Poor little star was diagnosed with Spina Bifida and another deformity that would have only caused her condition to worsen and extreme pain.
Upon vet recommendation she was put to sleep. WAP took criticism on this case and had to divulge further information about the deformity for people to understand the scenario better - "..her anus and vulva were utilizing the same body part, causing extreme pain leading to infection after infection..."

Chance

No mother dog at the beginning when needed it.
Despite efforts and around the clock care by foster mum Luisa, we were not able to save him.
Without his mother, he had a severely weakened immune system, which caused infections and bone disease.
Puppies need their mothers to atleast 8 weeks of age.

Spirit Walker

Spirit passed away due to complications at birth: she had to be aspirated for fluid build up in her lungs, we were hopeful for her survival but the vet figured because the mother, Miss Magoo, was impregnated by a larger dog all the pups were too big. Only survivor of the litter of 4 was Moon....Running Bear (m) and Sun Dancer (f) did not survive being born as they were too large.

Aislinn

Little black cat - malnourishment and neglect case, had a bad infection in her face that caused magots to form in her mouth

Buster

17 yr old dog who came into care; Buster had schiffer sherrington syndrome, quick onset paralysis, tumor on the spine.
He was put to sleep with Luisa, WAP President by his side.
