Happy Tails
This page gives an opportunity for our adoptive homes to share pictures of their furbabies and how they have grown since leaving Want A Pet? care. We always try to stay in touch with our adoptive homes and its great to receive pictures to see how they are doing; this can be really bittersweet for the former foster home who cared for them as their own prior to adoption.
Want A Pet? is a foster home based rescue and relies on foster home availability and dedication to be able to help animals in need; we only have a handful of full-time foster of homes and some emergency foster homes at this time. We are run by a volunteer board of directors who as a team with volunteers and community support work to help those in need pending resources available at the time.
If you would like to be part of this page please email wantapet@gmail.com a picture or pictures of your furrbaby with current name (original name in brackets if different) and a short sentence about them (optional). Please note that we will not be posting adoptive home names or any other personal information (unless we have been advised to do so).
If you know someone who has adopted from us and has not seen this page or our facebook call for updates then please advise them...
Towards the bottom of the page there is a new section called "Then and Now" where a snapshot picture shows how some of our animals have grown in their forever homes.

Lexi
"This is my beautiful girl Lexi. I adopted her over a year ago now. I saw her on the Facebook page and fell in love with her. At the time she was pregnant so I waited for her to have her babies and ween them and then she was all mine. She is the best dog in the world. She fits perfectly with my crew and is also a great foster mom to the pups/dogs I foster. I could not imagine my life without her. I will forever be grateful to Want A Pet? for bringing this girl into my life." (Teresa Ruberto)
Ivy
"Ivy and her adoptive sister and nieces running out at camp on the beach. Left to right: Lu, Niichii, Allie & Ivy"
Message from foster home (Shelly) - Ivy was one of four puppies born to Angel; siblings were Reed, Holly and Lily (Indie). They were a lovelly entertaining crew who were dearly missed when adopted!!! So very appreciative of seeing how they are doing.
Penny (Artemis)
"After losing our beloved dog, Abby, we had no plans to get another dog until we saw pictures of Penny (formerly Artemis), and fell in love with those big blue eyes. It was a sad time, but we were happy to welcome this little girl, in need of a home, into our family. In the months that we have had Penny, we have watched her grow from a little puppy who loved to bite our ankles, into a bigger puppy (over 40lbs now) who, usually, remembers that only toys are for biting. Penny loves to play with her best friend, our five-year-old son, and she has never met a dog that she doesn't get along with. She loves going for walks, and is very well behaved on a leash. She is getting the hang of fetch, and enjoys playing in water, dirt, or a combination of the two. She likes to relax by sitting on tables, or stretching out on her back for a nap."

Bandit (Aphrodite)
"I was in college when I first saw the pictures of the Greek Gods/Goddesses litter that Greenstone Helping Paws had put up. Right then and there I knew that I had to take one of those puppies home. :) My family and I had lost our beloved dog to cancer the year before and it had left a hole in our hearts that Bandit quickly helped refill. She is so full of spunk and character that it is impossible not to fall in love with her. She's become popular with everyone in Beardmore and gets along great with kids and other dogs. She absolutely LOVES the water and adores playing fetch and soccer! She is a very smart dog and has learnt tricks and proper mannerisms very quickly. She also gets along great with the two cats she lives with and sleeps cuddled up with her humans or flat out on her back with her belly in the air. I couldn't imagine life without her. Thank you Greenstone Helping Paws for allowing her to be a part of my life! :) "
